Bling'd out blazer (DIY style)

Being thrifty sometimes means getting crafty and creative. I am a DIY'er through and through, and I have taken some inspiration from a fellow blogger, and I created a great new garment for my closet!! This project was born after seeing Jenni's ideas on her blog: http://ispy-diy.blogspot.com. She took a regular thrifted purse and added brass brands to embellish it. I decided I could use the same idea to create an 80's style blazer!! I began with a plain black blazer I found at thrift store for about three bucks and proceeded to bling it out accordingly... The whole project cost me around $13.00 and about an hour of my time!!
I Started with a thrifted cotton blazer

I used a white eyeliner pencil and a ruler to map out where I was going to place the brads

My Supplies: A ruler, box cutter, white eyeliner pencil and silver brads (found in the scrapbook section of Joann's)

I used the box cutter to make a tiny hole in the fabric so I could push the brad through and then flatten the edges on the back side.

The finished product!

I love this new look

What a great way to dress up a boring outfit!!
What do you think of the project?  Would you try this at home? Let me know if you have any DIY ideas or projects!!
