Jump, Romp and Frolic

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Let me begin by telling you all, how in love I am with this Jumpsuit!! I have a couple of shorter rompers, but they do not work optimally with my body type. When purchasing a short romper I have to find a large in order to cover my "meaty" rear, but then the top ends up being too big and it just does nothing for me. So, needless to say this jumpsuit solves all my problems! This jumpsuit is not only very flattering on me (it makes my caboose look great), but it is also super comfortable! Something about the long slouchy shorts really elongates my legs and makes me feel sexy, and that is the whole point right? To feel good about yourself? The only downfall to this one-piece is that when you're in a hurry to pee, it feels like a lifetime getting it off. I also want to tell you a little story about my wedges, I bought them from gojane.com, one of my favorite online shops. The order said they were camel colored, but when I got them they looked like a baby had digested cream corn if you catch my drift. Thus, the problem solver I am, I took some of my dad's leather stain and stained them a with a dark brown. Luckily it worked out perfectly and I ended up with the beautiful camel color I was hoping for! I hope you love this look as much as I do!! All in all, I spent $31.97!!!

5 Ways to wear a jumper (day 5)

Sunday, April 24, 2011

Ahhh, finally I am able to make good on my promise of 5 looks! If you were wondering why I flaked out, well.. my camera broke. Sometimes I wonder is technology if actually makes our lives easier or not? After a few days googling, my camera is back in action! Today I am showing my last look in my Jumper series. This look is more fun and would be great to wear out shopping. There are a few things featured today that I just adore, first my hat. That hat I bought at Walmart in 2009 and I love it! I wear it all the time and I have never been able to find another one that fits me so well. The other item(s) I am so in love with is my jewelry! I bought the necklace and earring set from a boutique in East LA. For the last few weeks I have been walking by this boutique and it is never open, so last week I made a point to go in, and I found these lovely gems! The outfit I am sporting today cost $45.97 +tax!!

5 ways to wear a jumper (day 4)

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

My little blog series is winding down, only one more day you have to endure it :) Today I am sharing with you my favorite look of the bunch! I have taken a lace dress that I have and cut out the liner from it (it bunched up on me) and I am putting the lace dress over the jumper. So in a way I am re-purposing the Jumper as a slip of sorts. I am also excited to share with you the cutest little booties I found at the thrift store a couple weeks ago. I hope you enjoy this look, I am planning on wearing it tomorrow night, to go eat at Hell's Kitchen! I am pretty excited to go to the taping of the show and eat that awesome food! Not to mention there is an open bar :D So you guys have to let me know if I shouldn't wear this, after all, I might be on TV? This look rang in around $40 dollars.

5 ways to wear a Jumper (part 3)

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Hi everyone, I hope you're having as great a day as I am! It is 70 degrees in sunny California and I have been soaking it up! In honor of this sunny day, I am going to be showing some skin in today's post! If you have not been following, it is day three in a 5 part series, where I show you how versatile my little black jumper (LBJ) can be :)  For this look I have taken the jumper straps and simply tucked them under and put an elastic belt on to hold it all in place. It's a very simple change that makes it look dramatically different from the other posts. This look is definitely not work appropriate, but perhaps a night out with the girls? I hope you enjoy!! This look only cost around $20!!  (shoes will be featured in the next post)

LBJ aka Little Black Jumper $4

The Belt is from the Goodwill, shocking :) Cost two bucks!!

These bangles are a mix, but honestly most of them are from a dollar store in Hollywood.

I made these guitar pick earrings a few years ago. They cost me under a dollar to make!
Thank You for Stopping by!! Come back soon!!

5 ways to wear a jumper (part 2)

Monday, April 18, 2011

Welcome back to my jumper series! Today's look is also a professional and is a little masculine but still very feminine. I enjoy the dichotomy of male and female clothing. So many designers play with the juxtaposition already. I am no Chanel or YSL but I do like to mix gender stereotypes sometimes. Today I have paired my jumper with a long sleeve button down and one of my husbands ties. The upper half of this outfit is all boy, but the lower half is all woman!!  My jumper is probably a little short for super professional settings, so I wear it with caution. This ensemble cost around $22.00 not including the briefcase. (details on the jumper are on the previous post). Come back to tomorrow and see another way I utilize the jumper... its a little more risque...

5 ways to wear a jumper

Sunday, April 17, 2011

Hi again friends!! I have been slacking pretty good on blogging lately and I have no real good excuse.  Life has been happening and I have not been blogging :( But I am back in action (for now) and I want to share with you the versatility I discovered with a little black jumper of mine. When I was little jumpers were all the rage! I had plaid, stripes cordory, but you really don't see them much anymore. When I got my big girl job I had buy some professional clothing but, I didn't have much money. As usual I turned to the Goodwill and I still find most of my work clothes there! This jumper "jumped" out at me because I immediately saw it's versatility. However, I took it home, wore it once and shoved it to the back of my closet (for no good reason). I recently discovered it just hanging out and all my once great visions for this garment came back to me. So, I am here to share them with you!! I hope you enjoy my 80's style jumper and the ways I have choose to modernize it!! (By the way I will be drawing this out into a few posts to build anticipation, and because there are so many darn pictures)

First, Let me introduce my very simple black jumper. Nothing Fancy, that's why I have to dress it up!!

Wedded Bliss

Saturday, April 9, 2011

A wedding dress is probably the single most important item to a woman on her wedding day. Most women will cut the budget of food, decorations and even the honeymoon in order to attain the perfect gown. I think this behavior is rooted all the way back to childhood, when little girls dreamed of their wedding gowns. Well, lucky for me, I never dreamed about what my wedding dress would look like really, I just assumed when I saw the right one, I would know.

My husband and I were on a super tight budget for our wedding, I mean no wiggle room! Luckily I am super fabulously frugal and we spent under $5,000 for EVERYTHING, but that is another post. My wedding dress was no exception to the rule. Hold on to your socks...... my wedding dress cost $125.00 brand new! I don't exactly recommend this to people, but I  bought my dress on eBay. It looked gorgeous in the pictures so I decided to take a risk. When my dress arrived however, it was about 4 sizes too big so I had to get it altered. This was not super surprising since almost every wedding dress requires altering. Luckily a family friend is a seamstress, and fixed it all up for only a couple hundred bucks. Tailors in LA quoted me upwards of a grand to tailor it! In the end my dress looked pretty darn rocking for how much I paid for it. I think my reservations with it was the body I was hiding under it :D I don't know if I suggest shopping online for a wedding dress, but I always recommend NOT paying full price! Deals are everywhere you've just got to look. If you are interested in more photos from our wedding you can view them @ cart.davidswann.com/101010. In the near future I plan on putting together a post about all the ways we saved big bucks on our wedding :) More to look forward to!!

Gray Mini Dress

Thursday, April 7, 2011

I am not the type to wear revealing clothing, not because I'm modest really but because I could use some muscle toning and a tan :D However the mini dress I have chosen to share with you today is my exception to the rule. Its not over the top short but it is short enough to keep me tugging on it whenever I go out (due to that fact, I like to pair it with leggings or tights). Today, I decided to be bold and wear it bare legged! I adore this dress and I wear it whenever I get the chance. I really love putting grays and nudes together, for me they just seem like the perfect pair. This all rounded out to $44.00!!

This area in my bedroom is my jewelry corner. I love to keep all my jewelry on display, it's all art to me!
