DIY Embellished Collar

Sunday, July 22, 2012

I have been a little obsessed with these embellished collars lately. They are everywhere, and now there are necklaces made to look like collars! I decided that I needed to make my own, and I just happened to have the materials lying around ;) Check out some of my inspiration below...

I am drawn to the really flashy collars, but I don't know if they fit my personal style? I went for a more tamed down version, but I might make a more ballsy one soon :) I started off with a vintage button down tank I found at the thrift store.

I had these cute little gold pyramid studs sitting in my craft box, and I thought they would work perfectly

I then plotted out how I wanted to place the studs. I went with a minimalistic approach....

Then, I just started poking them through the material. The blouse is a really light weight fabric, so it was easy to push the studs right through.

Once I had all the little prongs through the fabric, I took my needle nose pliers and bent them inward. I could have used a butter knife too, they're very flexible

Voilá, first one done! Then I just repeated the steps until I had all the studs I wanted in place.

I ultimately chose to place 6 studs on each side. I felt like it was just enough extra flare without being over the top.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the embellished collar trend? Next time I want to go crazy, maybe add rhinestones and sequins!

I love this! I like the embellished collars too, but I haven't made any. I'll have find studs somewhere because I have no idea where to get them. I really like how yours turned out. Minimal, with a punch. :) <3

So simple, but it really takes a plain blouse to the next level. Love it!

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
