Happy Birthday America

Sunday, July 1, 2012

It's that time of year in America, where temperatures break records, water park admissions soar and watermelon season is at it's peak... In other words, Independence Day is upon us. The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. Not only is it a wonderful time to celebrate this beautiful country we live in (faults and all), but it's a time to enjoy family, friends and good food!

Today I wanted to share some of my favorite holiday recipes. I know there are a million different ones out there, but these are my favorite for this time of year! Also I took some outfit pictures below. Check out my festive look for only $35 :)

P.S. I'm sharing 3 days early so you can all get inspired ;)

This was the first and only popper we got a shot of. I shot off 3 other ones, but missed the shot. I want to buy some more, just to take more pictures ;)

Red, White & Blue Potato Salad
Potato Salad is an American staple and I love this festive twist on a classic.

Homemade Salsa
You don't have to be Latin to make authentic salsa. This recipe is super easy and delicious!

Cilantro & Lime Corn on the Cob
I don't know about you, but corn on the cob is a summer staple in my house! This is another Mexican inspired recipe, but it is SO good!!

Pork & Mango Kebabs
I love Kebabs because they are so cheap to make and fun to eat! This recipe cost under $3/serving to make!!

Sangria is one of my favorite summer drinks for a multitude of reasons. First it is a great way to make cheap wine taste yummy! Second, it's a great way to utilized all the delicious seasonal fruit.

Whimsical Sorbet Margaritas
I am not a huge drinker, but I love clever new ways to reinvent a classic. This recipe is so fun! I want to try it with strawberry sorbet too!

Happy Birthday America!!
I hope you all enjoy it!

I love this look! It's patriotic, but not so in your face with the usual stars and stripes. And that lime corn on the cob looks sooo good!!! I swear, corn on the cob is the best food in the summer. :) <3
