That's why it's so nice to get validation sometimes. Today, my validation came from a Lane Bryant ad in People Style Watch's September issue (pg. 102). As I was flipping through the pages, I saw an ad that was so similar to an outfit post I published over a year ago!! February 23, 2011 to be exact!! I'm not claiming they poached my idea, but it would be nice if they sent me some of their ad budget :D
In all seriousness, it was really cool to see that a professional stylist put together a look for a photo shoot, that I had already thought about way before they did! Such validation for this little ol' fashion blogger!!

Can you see the uncanny resemblance? I'd still love to have that hounds tooth cape though :D
P.S. If you ever seen any of the looks I put together in a magazine or on TV, please let me know, it will make my day!!

I know what you mean. Sometimes I get that feeling too, that they used 'my' idea. But I pretty much more think that that's not really true. That I just want to think that. There are so many people working in fashion, or just busy with it, that it's not weird that the same combinations are made. Even if you don't know each other.
I often have that I made an outfit combination and think that it's really good and than I find it on an other blog. Well, there went my 'original' idea, haha!

Sam, you're totally right, I think we all want to think we did it first. I know that my look was not that cutting edge or innovative, but I like that I can still put together outfits like a professional :) Gives me hope that one day someone will pay me too!!
Love this! I have had it happen once or twice myself! Your look is more wearable I think, plus your skirt can work into a lot more outfit combinations :) keep those cute outfits coming!

Awesome look! And I will be stealing that- I have a great houndstooth wool skirt from Loft I bought full price years ago (and I never buy full price) and I love seeing a new way to wear it!
Wow! These do look so similar! And you look so different with longer hair. I like it. :) Houndstooth is going to be my print for the fall and winter. I've already been stocking up on the print in the form of peplums, bags, and pants. LOL. That cape is beautiful, but I love your skirt more! So classy and pretty! <3
