10 things you don't know about me

So, I am totally copying this idea from a fellow blogger Katie (from Hems for Her). I follow Katie pretty closely and I love that she shared this post. I thought I would try my hand at it as well. I have to admit, it took me a while to come up with these because I am such an "over-sharer" and I had to figure out what I haven't told you.

10 things you {probably} don't know about me...

1. I hate other people's toothbrushes, like severely hate them. It's been a "thing" since I was a child that no one could touch my tooth brush and I can't stand touching anyone else's, not even my husband's. I know there are people out there who share toothbrushes, and it literally makes me gag. My husbands tooth brush sits in a separate container at least 6 inches away from mine. It's so illogical, I know. I kiss him, eat and drink after him, but there is something about those damp bristles that make me sick. This has also expanded to tooth paste, I do not like using other people's toothpaste because their toothbrush has touched it. I will use it if I have to, but I don't like it. Note: my baby sister is the exact same way.

2. I think that I am hilarious. I really love to make people laugh and it's a latent interest that has popped up in the last few years. I love off-color and offensive jokes too. I probably offend people regularly in the name of humor (that's why my Facebook is private). I'm not a hateful or mean spirited person, but I think stereotypes are funny and I am not afraid to laugh at myself. I test my material out on my husband, usually via text message while he's at work. I recently got upset because he was only responding "haha" and I was discontent with that reaction. I made him start using a number scale as to how funny my jokes are. Now our text messages look like this: "haha 7."

3. I hate Halloween. I might actually loose friends over this, but I seriously have no desire to ever dress up and go out on the town in a patent leather dress and fishnet stockings. I mean, I have dressed up plenty in my life, but at 27 I have no desire to ever again. Even as a child, I wanted to stay at home and hand out the candy. I know people in their 50's who love Halloween and they still dress up, it's just not my thing. I also HATE to be scared! I do not watch horror films and I stay away from anything that might give me a bad dream.

4. I only eat ice cream at home if it has milk in it. I will eat soft serve or hand packed from a restaurant, but if I'm at home, I pour milk in it. I don't know why, but I love mashing up my ice cream with milk. I don't like it the consistency of a milk shake, but I like it smooshy. My favorite thing is when you pour the milk over the frozen ice cream and it makes little crunchy crystals... I know I'm weird! I also don't keep ice cream in the house. If it's in the freezer I can't help myself from eating it. I only buy ice cream a couple times a year.

5. I have 4 siblings, and none of them share both my parents with me. My mom has 3 other children and my dad has another daughter. I was the baby for 13 years and then both my parents remarried and has more kids. I have an older brother 32, a younger brother 13, two younger sisters 13 and 11. My baby sister the 11 year old, has the most in common with me. She is a spark plug and we have identical personalities. If we were any closer in age we'd kill each other. However, she is one of my favorite people in the whole world!

6. I use to hate writing, and English was my worst subject in school. I don't know how I ended up with a blog, but writing was never the path I thought I would take. I loved Math, Science and Art in school, never English. I am quite self conscious about my writing skills. I struggle with grammar and spelling on the regular. Semicolons will be the death of me. I use a dictionary and thesaurus daily.

7. I spent the first three years of college studying psychology. I like every lost high school grad, thought psychology would be a great degree to pursue. I was positive at 18 that I was going to get my Ph.D and change people's lives... waa, waa, waa. I loved all my psychology classes, human behavior fascinates me, but I knew it wasn't the right career path for me. This crazy cute boy snapped me back to reality and made me go to fashion school ;) I've never once regretted not getting that Ph.D. All my psych classed did help with consumer behavior though.

8.Vanilla is my favorite scent. Whether it's lotion, a candle or perfume, I am a sucker for anything vanilla. The scent reminds me of my Mom, because she also buys everything vanilla. In addition, I have an acidic pH balance and a lot of perfumes don't smell the same on me as they do in the bottle. Vanilla scents however, work well with my chemistry.

9. At the age of 27 I still TiVo every season of America's Next Top Model. It's my dirty little secret and I am not proud of it. Reality TV is such an ugly side of our society and yet I still watch it. I'm not big into most reality TV shows, but gah that Tyra Banks has me hooked, even though I know it's absolutely ridiculous!

10. I use to have my lip pierced. When I was 21, I was feeling really rebellious (note: I'm not really rebellious), and I had always wanted a lip piercing. I made my mom and little sister go with me, because that's how badass I was :D I had my lip pierced for 3 years and I miss it a lot. I only wore a tiny diamond stud, but I had to take it out when I got a big people job. When I look back at pictures, I think that was one of my favorite things I took advantage of while I was young enough to get away with it.

{Looking Back at Memory Lane}

Spending my girlfriends 21st in Vegas

My Lip Piercing

Brett and I in San Fran when we were first dating

Impromptu Tijuana trip. We walked across the border and drank margaritas... none of that is recommended.

When we got our baby Beazer. He was so little here.

Our last Christmas in CA before we moved to Chicago

Back when I worked at a sports bar in Chicago. My hatred for football Sundays runs deep!
