Fall/Winter 2012 "Must Have" Accessesories

Sunday, October 14, 2012

I am an accessory hoarder.

There I said it. I have an unhealthy relationship with my accessories. But, just because you already own 40 necklaces, 25 pairs of earrings, 15 cocktail rings, 17 scarves, and over 50 pairs of shoes, does not mean you can't still be lacking in some areas. I have listed below some of my favorite fall/winter accessory trends for 2012.

1. Men's Watches (for women)

Men's watches have been a pretty big trend for a couple seasons now. Every one from Michael Kors, to Marc Jacobs to Target are turning out their own renditions of these masculine inspired watches. Also paired with this trend, is the comeback of vintage style watches, or as I like to call them the "grandpa watch." If you have an old school Casio, bust it out - even if it doesn't work. I mean who uses watches anymore right? We all have iPhones for that.

2. Hats

I'm not a hat person per-say. I mean I like to wear them, they just don't always compliment my bone structure. I am excited though to try some of the newest hat trends I've been seeing. I think I will stay away from fedora's but I want to buy a floppy felt hat and a fur cap too!

3. Fun Tights

Bold tights have been around the past few winters. I already own a pair of plum, hot pink, gray and forest green ones from last year. This year however, I am planning on picking up a pair of polka dot ones, and if I'm feeling crazy I might buy a cheetah pair.

3. Bold Scarves

Scarves are a staple every winter, especially if you live in colder climates. 90% of my scarf collection is from when I lived in Chicago. This fall and winter though you should really experiment with fun prints and fabrics. I am obsessed with this fur scarf, but in reality it will never be cold enough in LA for that. I do plan on sporting a couple silk scarves though, because they are great for warmer climates.

4. Cross Body Bags

Cross-body bags are my new go-to purse choice. I love these bags because they are small, light weight and leave you hands free. I don't know about you, but the bigger my bag, the more I put in it. Fortunately with a small cross body, I am limited to a couple plastic cards, lip gloss and keys. I also love all the fun colors and shapes these bags are coming in too. Not to mention, they will transcend the seasons.

5. Nails

You heard it here first folks, your manicure is an accessory these days! I feel like nail trends have blown up in the past year and women are now more than ever coordinating their nails with their ensembles. I know I'm a bit extreme, but I change my polish multiple times a week. I am thoroughly enjoying experimenting with new manicures and my polish collection has grown to over 35 colors!
