Gypsy Junkies S/S 2013: Los Angeles Fashion Week

Thursday, October 18, 2012

I had the best of intentions to post this Wednesday night, but I have been battling a relentless head cold. I was able to peel myself off the couch long enough Wednesday night to attend the Gypsy Junkies runway show. Their  Spring/Summer 2013 collection was showcased at Drai's Nightclub in Hollywood. The event was poolside atop the W hotel, over looking all of Los Angeles, talk about ambiance....

If you are not familiar with the Gypsy Junkies brand (I wasn't really either), allow me to give you some background...

Gypsy Junkies is a contemporary women's line that embodies youth, freedom and boho style with the ingenuity and design perspective of creative directors Marcus Paglialonga, of Ron Herman l Fred Segal fame, and Cynthia Crighton, a retail veteran... Inspired by their international travels, as well as the most stylish L.A. girls, Gypsy Junkies is a breath of fresh air for the fashion industry. 'Gypsy Junkies is more than just clothing and accessories—It is a feeling. From the stylish girls I see everyday, to the trips we took to Asia and Europe, we have included a little bit of everything in the line.' said Marcus. Worldwide inspiration blends with impeccable style and perfectly executed fit to encompass a line of apparel that transcends from day to night, and casual to dressy. With every season, another evolution forms and another side of the Gypsy is exposed (Love and Pride)."

The Gypsy Junkies S/S 2013 collections was all about color, prints and flowy fabrics. After researching the designers and hearing about their travels, the global influence was wildly apparent in the collection. This collection carried the boho vibe of the entire brand, from ethnic-inspired layered pieces, to messy hair, and feather headbands. Every Look was paired with chunky Jeffrey Campbell platforms and my favorite part, the glittered lipstick!  Each model had bright lipstick to offset the colorful collection, and my favorite was the electric blue! Seriously, it looked like the models had sequins glued to their lips, where do I buy that lipstick?!?

Sorry the photos aren't the best, but under the conditions I still managed to get a few good shots. I showed up an hour an a half before the show, but that still didn't insure me a good vantage point. The place was packed! If you want to see some really stellar shots, head over to Melissa's page (fellow blogger), she had an amazing viewpoint!!

There were a ton of local bloggers there, and I ran into Kat from Love and Ace! Meeting fellow bloggers is on of my favorite things about fashion events!
