Real v.s Steal: Smart Gloves

Thursday, November 15, 2012

With technology making huge advancements on a regular basis, it's only a matter of time before our clothing becomes more high tech. I am actually surprised that it has taken this long to create this type of smart touch glove. I remember when I lived in Chicago and I would have to take public transit to school. There was nothing worse than standing in the freezing snow and having to take your gloves off to change the song on your iPod. Okay, there were probably worse things, but I'm just saying, we should have had these a long time ago.

These gloves are really cool because they have a special material over the thumb, index and middle finger, which allows you to access your touch screens without taking your gloves off!  I saw a version of these gloves on the Today show and wanted to seek out a pair for myself. It doesn't get super cold in Southern California though, so I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for something I will only use a few times. There are quite a few smart touch gloves on the market, but here are two similar versions depending on your price point.

The Echo Design ones are from Zappo's and are cashmere, which is why they are so expensive. They do look a little less bulky than the steal however. The Isotoner Smart Tech gloves are on sale right now at Kohl's! They were originally $44, but that's still better than the Echo Design price. I think these gloves will be great Christmas presents as well!!

I need these! It seriously drives me crazy having to take my gloves off all the time. Except I live in Florida now, so I'd use them for about a week and a half a year. :) Haha!

Those cashmere gloves are lovely, but simply too pricey. Great, less expensive find from Kohls.

I found some great (functional not fashionable) smart gloves at Walmart last year. Every once and a while you can find some really nice gloves at Ann Taylor or even Kohls for less than $40.

I love the bright blue color of the more expensive ones, but would definitely go with the cheaper ones!
