{outfit post} polka dot shorts & tights

Friday, December 21, 2012

I don't know if you caught my post last week about layering for winter weather, but one of my blogger friends, Marissa from Shabby Chic and Cheap, saw a outfit I put together and said she had that exact outfit. I started thinking and I realized I had all the same components myself. So, I challenged her to a style off of sorts. The goal was to take the items shown above and create our own look. Here is how I chose to style my polka dot shorts, chambray blouse, tights and burgundy heels:

Total Outfit Cost: $64.67
Estimated Retail: $139.30

{shorts}

estimated retail: $25.00
{blouse}
brand: Mudd
purchase price: $23.00
purchased from: Kohl's
estimated retail: $40.00

Note: the dog was not part of the rules, but he sure is cute!

{mustache ring}
brand: unknown
purchase price: $1.99
purchased from: eBay
estimated retail: $6.00

{bracelets}
brand: various
purchase price:$14.00

{necklace}
brand: Forever 21
purchase price: $7.80
purchased from: Forever 21 (bought it years ago)
estimated retail: $7.80

{sunglasses}
brand: unknown
purchase price: $0.99
purchased from: the 99 cents only store
estimated retail: $16.00

{booties}
brand: Forever 21
purchase price: $5.99

Here's how Marissa did her version:

I think we both rocked it! I love all of Marissa's accessories and I prefer her booties to mine! What do you think?

I never would have thought to combine chambray with polka dot shorts! I actually prefer your booties. Something about wedges just feels cozy. Great job styling!

You both look fabulous! I do like her booties more, but you are seriously the queen of accessories! I love the pieces you mixed & matched!

I think you both did a good job too. Love the little doggie for an accessory, lol, and the blue nail polish!
