The forgotten ones

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

So... I bought this dress in the end of September in hopes of wearing it to LA's fashion week. I took these photos pre fashion week and intended on adding some shots from the show, but, I got sick and I never made it to the show. Then, completely forgot all about this dress! Today, while I was cleaning/organizing the files on my computer I found these images, and I can't believe I didn't share them sooner!

I found this dress at a Plato's Closet and immediately fell in love. I love the red and black color blocking, I love the sheerness of the sleeves and I even love the head to toe pleats. To some women, this dress might have seemed atrocious on a rack; it had zero hanger appeal! It is billowy and boxy and could look all wrong if not styled properly. Since I am a bit more curvy, I knew I couldn't just let this dress hang like a bag on me, I had to belt it. If I was 5 inches taller, this shapeless dress would look cute as is, but I'm short and hippy (as in big hips) and I need more dimension.

I also felt like the dress was bold enough to stand on it own, so I didn't want to over accessorize it. I kept the jewelry simple, a black belt and some nice red pumps!

That dress is so pretty! The colors are dark and mysterious, but yet also very pretty. I love getting things reused that come from the good stores like Zara. It's one of the reasons I love shopping at Crossroads when I'm down in so cal because it's like American Apparel and Zara galore! You look so pretty! <3
