DIY Halloween Costumes and Love it, Link it

Monday, October 28, 2013

I have to be honest, the appeal of dressing up for Halloween disappeared when I was 12. I think that was the year I was a half-dead cheerleader. What's the appeal of being a half dead anything, really? But as I got older I resented the fact that you had to dress slutty, I mean if I wanted to dress like a hoe, I didn't need Halloween to do so. Not to mention, Halloween is usually really cold where I grew up, so unless I was going as a blanket monster, anything I wore I would freeze my butt off. I've dressed up a handful of times since adolescence. One time I was pregnant Britney Spears, another time I was "Harvest Barbie" (which was totally a cop out). Needless to say, if I dress up for Halloween, it's usually last minute and thrown together with something I already own.

I have complied some darling DIY Halloween costumes for the other slackers out there! (all images are linked)

I love this make up, I would definitely be willing to try this!

Raggedy Ann
Grab a red yarn wig, and some mix-matched clothes for the prefect Raggedy Ann costume

Bank Robbers
I literally have everything to make this in my apartment, that's a great costume in my opinion!

Rosie The Riveter
A denim blouse and a handkerchief = Done

With some heavy eye make up and some gaudy baubles, this costume should be a cinch.

Paper Doll
This is one of my favorites! Not only does it make me nostalgic, but it's very easy to make.

Talk about clever, this is one of the cutest and easiest costumes. Just make sure you don't get banged by little boys in blind folds... huh?

Duck Dynasty
I am so excited that people want to dress like these hairy hunters over the Jersey Shore cast these days! If you've got something camo, a beard and a bandana, this costume is in the bag!

We've all seen the clever Progressive commercials, and who wouldn't want to be Flo?

Lichtenstein Art
This one is for the art geek in me. I have been wanting to recreate this costume for years!

I just think this is cute. It's not your typical slutty barbie costume, and seems fairly simple to make.

Joan from Madmen
As a fan of Madmen, I love this costume! Simple and Classy.. you can bet you'll be the best dressed!
